      Landphier, Gladys A.

      SUN PRAIRIE - Gladys A. Landphier, age 71, died on Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2003, at the Don and Marilyn Anderson HospiceCare Center after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on Oct. 10, 1932, to Anton and Hattie (Weisensel) Derr.

      She married James Landphier on June 13, 1953, in East Bristol at St. Joseph's Catholic Church.

      She grew up in the East Bristol/Sun Prairie area and graduated as Valedictorian from Sun Prairie High School. Gladys spent most of her life as an accountant for several companies including Spahn Enterprises. She retired from the Wisconsin Porcelain Company. She was a life member of St. Ann's Alter Society, the VFW Women's Auxiliary and a member of the Madison Packer Backers. She loved the time she spent with the Wacky Homemakers and playing cards with her many card club friends. She also enjoyed volunteering her time at the Food Pantry, the Colonial Club and at Sacred Hearts.

      Survivors include two children, Larry (Kim) Landphier and Susan (John) Landphier-Smolak; three grandchildren, Andrew and Tess Landphier and Stone Landphier-Smolak, all of Sun Prairie; her mother, Hattie Derr of Sun Prairie; five sisters, Helen Kaltenberg of Poynette, Martha (Paul) Sillman of Waterloo, JoAnn (Edward) Kessenich of Columbus, Dorothy (Richard) Hughes of Chicago, and Carol (Jerry) Priebe of Wisconsin Rapids; and a brother, Marvin (Kathy) Derr of East Bristol; and many other in-laws, relatives and friends.

      She was preceded in death by her father, Anton; husband, James; a brother, Lloyd; a sister, Lucy; brother-in-law, Jerome Kaltenberg; and a niece, Donna Sillman.

      A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 24, 2003, at SACRED HEARTS OF JESUS AND MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 227 Columbus St. in Sun Prairie with Monsignor Duane Moellenberndt presiding. Burial will be in Sun Prairie Memory Gardens Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Sunday Nov. 23, 2003, at the TUSCHEN-NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 302 Columbus St., in Sun Prairie.
