    • MENOMINEE, MICH. - Marjorie Wawrzon passed away of natural causes on Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2007, at her home. She was born Jan. 30, 1919, in Sun Prairie, the second daughter of Paul and Isabel (Williamson) Batz. She attended Sacred Heart School in Sun Prairie through her sophomore year of high school and graduated from Sun Prairie High School in 1936. Marjorie married Reuben Schroud on Aug. 16, 1936. They lived in California and Oregon for several years. They founded the first private nursing home in Fond du Lac. Later, they purchased the Schroud Nursing Home in partnership with Paul Batz (now City View Nursing Home). Mrs. Wawrzon was a charter member and officer of the Dane County Nursing Home Association, the Wisconsin Nursing Home Association and was a member of the National Nursing Home Association, serving as regional representative at its inception. She was a member of Holy Redeemer Church in Birch Creek, Mich., serving as (past) president of the Altar Society and as an Extraordinary Minister. In 1959, she married John Wawrzon in Menominee, Mich. and moved to Menominee. He died in 1982. Marjorie attended Madison Area Technical College and graduated from the LPN program there. She practiced as a LPN in Wisconsin and Michigan from 1959 until 1967, when she was employed as and Administrative Assistant at the Counseling Center Inc., in Marinette, Wis. She was employed at Marinette County (Adapt) until her retirement in 2002, at age 83. She also maintained a private medical transcribing service in her home. She held a Social Worker certificate in Michigan. Marjorie is survived by two sons, Thomas R. (Mary) Schroud of Madison and Paul F. (Peggy) Schroud of Menominee, Mich.; two daughters, Constance M. (Jack) Skalitzky of Marshall and Barbara A. Thomas of Lake Worth, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Lawrence J. (Therese) Batz of Mazomanie. Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Reuben Schroud; second husband, John Wawrzon; her sisters, Mary Batz, Lenita Thomas and Pauline Raemisch; an infant son, Kenneth; and an infant daughter, Mary. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Saturday, Jan. 13, 2007, at 11 a.m. at HOLY REDEEMER CATHOLIC CHURCH. Friends may call from 9 a.m. until the time of services Saturday at the church. The Rev. Father Joseph Vandannoor will officiate and burial will be in Sacred Hearts Cemetery, Sun Prairie. The Cadieu Funeral Home is assisting the family.
