Frank Barth Dies After Long Illness

Frank X. Barth, a lifelong resident of this community, passed away at his home in this village Tuesday evening, April 3 after an illness of one and one-half years. His age was 67 years, 11 months, and 6 days.

Frank Barth was born in the town Bristol, April 27, 1866, and was son of the late Math. and Ernestina Barth, pioneers of Bristol township. When he was two years of age, his parents moved onto the farm in the town of Sun Prairie where he grew to manhood and upon the death his father took over the farm and lived there until he came to this village.

On August 12, 1897, he was united in marriage with Miss Odelia Strohmenger, and he took his bride to the farm home, where they resided until the spring of 1922, when they moved to this village. That summer they built the home on Vine street; into which they moved on the 31st day of August, and where they have since lived.

About a year and a half ago signs of failing health appeared, and though surgical and medical aid were summoned, it was to no avail except to prolong his life a bit. Through it all he has accepted his suffering with great fortitude, knowing Death was his only emancipator.

He is survived by his bereaved wife, one brother, and five sisters. They are Nick Barth, near Grand Meadow, Minn.. (Annie) Mrs. Geo. Schmidt, and (Mary) Mrs. Rudolph Duscheck, of this village; (Margaret) Mrs. Louis Endres. Grand Meadow, Minn., (Kate) Mrs. Jos. Duscheck, of this village, and (Ella) Mrs. John Peschel, of Waterloo.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 o'clock Friday morning at Sacred Hearts church, Rev. G. A. Haeusler officiating, and interment will be in Sacred Hearts cemetery. The pall bearers are Mrs. Barth's four brothers, Cal, Nick, Robert and Fred Strohmenger, and Jos. Duschack and John Peschel.
