      CROSS PLAINS - Jacob V. Kalscheur, age 89, of 2411 Church Street, died on Tuesday, March 5, 1991 at a Northridge, California hospital. He was born on November 27, 1901 in Pine Bluff, Wisconsin. Jacob married the former Ursula Esser on October 2, 1937 and she preceded him in death on March 16, 1969.

      He was a retired Kroger employee where he worked for 25 years. He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, and the Catholic Knights.

      He is survived by five daughters, Rachel (Dick) Abril of Prescott, Arizona, Suzanne (Tom) Meade of Northridge, California, Karen (Bob) Ashe of Wausau, Jerry Bram, of Paris France, and Madeline Quigley of Madison; nine grandchildren; three sisters, Catherine Raemisch of Waunakee, Irma Brackett of Connecticut, and Mary Roberts of Waunakee; and five brothers, John "Matt" of Cross Plains, Clemens of Cross Plains, Cyril "Jim" of Martinsville, Henry "Hank" of Cottage Grove, and Herbert of Verona.

      He was also preceded in death by his sister, Lydia Brunner; and two brothers, Melchior and Norbert.

      Funeral services will be held at the ST. FRANCIS XAVIER CATHOLIC CHURCH, at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 12, 1991 with Father Felix Oehrlein officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday at the ST. FRANCIS CHURCH, where a Scripture Service will be held at 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital. GRUBER-GUNDERSON FUNERAL HOME, 2905 Esser Street is serving the family.
