    • VERONA/OREGON - Henry "Heinz" Weiss, age 87, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 28, 2012, at Willow Point in Verona. He was born on Sept. 2, 1924, in Germany, the son of Wilhelm and Florentine (Brenner) Weiss. Henry was united in marriage to Olga Schachtschneider on Sept. 4, 1945, in Pressel, Germany. They came to the United States in 1952 with their first three children. In 1957, they built their first home on Paoli Street in Verona, and added their fourth child. He was living the American dream. He retired from Bancroft Dairy, Madison in 1990. He was also a mason by trade. He was an avid gardener and sang with the Madison Maennerchor for many years. He was active with home improvements, loved dancing, Friday night fish fry and a schluck of brandy. He is survived by his son, Edward (Lynn) of Waunakee; and two daughters, Trouti (John) Winkelman and Ingrid (Tim) Smith, both of Verona; seven grandchildren, Mark (Abby) Weiss, Kelly (Tom) Kazynski, Kristen (Steve) Todd, Shay Winkelman, Sara (Matt) Quigle, Stefany and Kyle (Jennifer) Smith; six great-grandchildren; brother, Robert (Ruth) Weiss; two sisters, Martha (Heinz) Stapel and Alwina Zander; and several nieces and nephews in Germany. He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Olga; his son, Karl Weiss; and his parents. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on May 3, 2012, at ST. JAMES LUTHERAN CHURCH, 427 S. Main Street, Verona, with The Rev. Kurt Billings officiating. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Thursday at the church. Burial will follow at Verona Cemetery.
